Samia Suluhu Hassan, On Saturday, Tanzania's new president said the country will look to revive the Bagamoyo port project, days after speaking with Chinese President Jinping over the phone.
If this deal will be signed, then there is a possibility that in the coming few years, China will take the whole of Tanzania. Because the estimated value of this project is $10 billion, which is very high and the terms and condition for this project itself reveal the dark side of China.
Timeline of Tanzania-China deal:
2013:
Tanzania signed an agreement in 2013 that Tanzania's entire coastline will be indirectly part of China, Tanzania have to take China's permission to take any decision for development of coastline, and the Chinese government company will control the port which will be built here. China will take this on lease for 99 years, it will also have 33 years of guarantee years.
Whatever China do on this port Tanzania will never question China. The agreement for the project was signed by former Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete.
2015:
Contracts to begin port construction were signed in October 2015 and phase 1 of the project was set for completion in 2017.
2016:
In January, the project was cancelled by President John Magufuli's government due to unfavorable terms set by the investor.
The terms include: Tanzania giving China a guarantee of 33 years and a lease of 99 years, and the country should not question whoever comes to invest there once the port is operational. Also, once the port construction is complete, there should be no other port to be built all the way from Tonga to Mtwara south.
The president of Tanzania said that the conditions set by the investor amount to selling Tanzania to China.
2020:
Samia Suluhu Hassan, On Saturday, Tanzania's new president said the country will look to revive the Bagamoyo port project, days after speaking with Chinese President Jinping over the phone.
If this deal will finalized in future then there is very high possibility that china will build the military base which was a very high security threat for Sothern India, china will directly launch military operation in the Arabian sea to India. After making its dominance in the South China Sea, China now wants to strengthen its hold in the Indian Ocean.
